Stephen
Ministry
- Ministry Theme: “Christ Caring
for People Through People”
There are times in our lives when each of us needs another
person—A Christian friend, a Stephen Minister!
The Stephen Ministry is a Strictly confidential one to
one lay caring ministry in our church. 50 hours of weekly
core training is required. After orientation, training commences
in some of the following core topics: The Person of the
Caregiver, Distinctively Christian Care giving, The Art
of Listening, confidentiality, suicide, depression, divorce
and many others. After Stephen Ministers are commissioned
by our Pastor, ongoing bi-monthly continuing education and
supervision classes are held.
Stephen Ministers are the after people: after the doctor
has given up hope, after the house has been foreclosed,
after the loss of a loved one, after hospitalization, after
the loss of employment, ex-offenders and their families,
terminal illnesses or those experiencing a spiritual crisis.
During training, the Stephen Ministry meets every Thursday
from 6:30pm to 9:00pm on the 3rd floor of the education
building. If you are committed and interested in this strictly
confidential, Christ centered ministry, you may contact
any of the following leaders by leaving a message at the
front desk of the JW Saunders Bldg.
