Ramon Reeberg

Ramon Reeberg is a musician’s musician. Born in The Bronx, NY, to Rev. Lucien and Mrs. Lillian Reeberg, Ramon has spent most of his life playing the piano. This is a man who is passionate about music. His taste in music runs the gamut from classical to gospel and from anthems to spirituals. He loves it all and he plays it all. However, what separates Ramon from most musicians is his expectation of excellence. He expects it of his students, his choir and above all, of himself. Although Ramon has a God-given gift for music, he prepared himself academically for excellence. He attended the incomparable High School Of Performing Arts, then received a Bachelors of Science in Piano from Mannes College of Music and a Masters in Guidance and Counseling from Lehman College. Constantly in search to improve his craft, Ramon has also taken advanced studies at Fordham University, Columbia University and Westminster Choir College.

“Unto whom much is given, much is also required.” Ramon has touched the lives of countless young people in the NYC public schools since he began his career as a teacher in 1969. He served at JHS 136 in The Bronx, Aviation HS in Queens, and Norman Thomas HS as Music Teacher, Dean, Coordinator of Student Activities, and College Advisor. Since 1991, the students at LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and the Performing Arts have been instructed, encouraged, enriched and challenged by Mr. Reeberg. Never content with “just teaching”, Ramon is often found after school hours assisting with musical productions, conducting the Senior Chorus, and of course rehearsing the inimitable Gospel Choir. Under the leadership of Ramon Reeberg, the LaGuardia Gospel Choir has had the privilege of performing with celebrities in the music industry such as Mariah Carey and Patti LaBelle at Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, and Madison Square Garden. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the field of music and education, Ramon was featured in a Japanese documentary on American music. In the summer of 2008, Ramon was invited to travel to Italy to teach students vocal techniques and “American style” choral music. The resulting concerts in Rome and other major Italian cities were received with overwhelming acclaim.

Understanding that “every good and perfect gift is from above”, Bro. Reeberg has consistently used his unique gift to the glory of God. He was the original staff pianist for the Voices of East Harlem in 1967. Over the years, he has served as Minister of Music for several churches in the NY area. Currently, he is a member of the music staff at Convent Baptist Church in Harlem, NY.

It is said that “Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” Ramon Reeberg has certainly used his extraordinary musical skill to transform the lives of many - young and old.
