Minister
Cynthia Nwizu
Minister Cynthia E. Nwizu was born and raised in Harlem,
USA. She completed her primarily education in New York City
before attending Cornell University where she completed her
B.A. with a concentration in Economics. While at Cornell she
encountered the living God, received the gift of salvation
and made Jesus Christ her Lord. Upon returning to New York
she joined the Convent Avenue Baptist Church under the leadership
of the late Pastor Rev. Dr. Clarence P. Grant. While at Convent,
she has ministered to youth for twenty years in various capacities
including Sunday School teacher, youth advisor, and Co-Chair
of Youth Ministry. She was also an instructor with the church-sponsored
Betty B. Wilson Learning Center where she taught Basic Christian
Education in the Center’s Virginia Union University
Certificate Program in Religious Education. In 2000, Min.
Nwizu acknowledged God’s call to the preaching ministry
and was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in October
2004.
In addition, to her undergraduate education, Minister Nwizu
has received her Master’s of Business Administration
from Columbia University and her Masters of Divinity from
Alliance Theological Seminary where she concentrated in Christian
Education and Discipleship. Minister Nwizu has a heart for
youth development, discipleship and spiritual formation. One
of her favorite scriptures is Philippians 3:12-14 (NKJV)
Min. Nwizu is currently an Associate Minister at Convent
under the Pastorate of Rev. Dr. Jesse T. Williams, Jr. She
is the Director of the Chosen Youth Ministry whose mission
is to develop youth to be devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
She also serves on Convent’s Board of Christian Education
and Children and Youth Worship Accountability Team.
