Rev. Charlene D. Faison

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”. Proverbs 3:5-6.

This is her favorite Scripture and daily meditation as she travels this journey which started with her birth in Waycross, Ga. This journey turned into a Christian journey when at the age of twelve she received Jesus as her personal Savior and was baptized at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, Ga. Charlene later moved to New York City and united with the Convent Avenue Baptist Church in New York City in February 1984. Opportunities to serve the Lord have been: as Vice President of the Sanctuary Choir, Assistant Secretary of Sunday School Class A-5, Secretary of the Deaconess Board, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Associate Teacher in the Foundations for Christian Living class, member of the Board of Deacons, monthly Preacher at the Greater Harlem Nursing Home, and as an Student Minister at the Greater Universal Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Rev. Dr, Daniel Dupree.

In October 1997, she was called to preach the Gospel, when she was told by the Holy Spirit to go down to Nineveh and preach the Gospel. She recognized the call to ministry required additional academic preparation. In May 2000, she received a Certificate in Christian Ministry from New York Theological Seminary. In May 2004, she graduated from New York Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity Degree. She is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry Program at New York Theological Seminary. She previously received her Bachelors of Science degree in Radiological Health Science and a Masters Business Administration from Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY.

On October 28, 2001, Reverend Faison was licensed to preach the Gospel by the Convent Church. On April 4, 2008 she was ordained to the Gospel Ministry by the Convent Avenue Baptist Church in collaboration with the United Missionary Baptist Association of the Empire State Baptist Convention of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.

Reverend Faison’s ministerial areas of focus are Preaching, Christian Education, Worship Support and Church Administration. She is presently serving as an Associate Minister at the Convent Avenue Baptist Church as well as the Chairperson of the Board of Christian Education.

She is currently employed by Entergy Services, Inc. as the Manager of Licensing Programs in White Plains, New York.

She is married to Minister John Faison, Jr., and they have three adult children.
